Overall ... despite a couple of subpar verses, ‘Insomnia’ is one for the books. The UK rap world has never seen three of the scene’s most in-demand rappers surprisingly team up for an album. Here the best of north and south London have come together and paved the way for others to follow suit.

Clash
The three work well as a collective: Chip provides the cut-throat and fresh bars, Adz comes with the melody and Skepta is free to experiment throughout. The beats stand up too, consonantly switching patterns and breaks and bringing the best out of each artist.

The Guardian

It’s immediately available, rides low at a tempo that’s perfect for listening to while on lockdown in your house or car, and, with the title Insomnia, tackles paranoid themes with the light relief of dark humour.

The Observer
The trio’s appetite for drugs, women and money never wavers from first to last track. Yet the more introspective songs, such as the spectral Traumatised and thoughtful High Road, tell powerful stories about their journey to success, and prove that D-Block Europe’s imperial phase is far from its end.

Loud and Quiet
The album’s riches only go to explain the reason why so many potential collaborations fall apart or underwhelm; not everyone can provide this level of selfless dedication to one another and to the project. As a result we are blessed with an album filled with greatness only.

Remember when Kem, Chris and Jamie made up a rap during a challenge on Love Island 2017?

That's what this feels like. The boys were bored and thought why not? I get why they might be bored right now.

However, that is no excuse to be cringe lords.

Nevertheless, I have chosen to be loving and have awarded the album +1 rating for every second of the album that I enjoyed. You're welcome Skep. Don't beat me up. Sin City was ait.

The fuck has Skepta been doing bruv? I hope he gets mad fans from the younger gen for all this nonsense he's been up to lately; get back to the real grime shit, it's a bit soft isnt it?

I am not necessary a big fan of Skepta but his previously two releases Ignorance is Bliss and Konnichiwa were at least fun listens. Insomnia does the exact opposite for me it causes Narcolepsy. The beats can be interesting but they often don't make the tracks stand out. Most of the lyrics feel lackluster and same with the vocal performances. This isn't necessary bad it is competent but it has nothing engaging for me and just ends up forgettable.
