Angles is a return to form for The Strokes. Their familiar sound is mixed in with chirpier and colorful textures. They experiment with new instrumental arrangements and go for a more worldly sound. Songs like Undercover of Darkness and Taken for a Fool have the more familiar qualities that most fans come to know them for. It's as if they never left and have always been dishing out the same, great tunes since 2001. This record seemed to turnoff a lot of remaining Strokes fans that were left over ... read more

The Strokes go for a new sound, but they don't know what. So they try on a bunch of styles to see what fits and the result is a disjointed but very fun record with some neat ideas.

this is the best one that isn't is this it idec

Though the production is rough as always, The Strokes' aptitude for catchy hooks shines through more than ever on a tight set of new wave-inspired material that strikes out from their garage rock box in an admirable and fun way.

Sounds more cohesive than its predecessor, and its a interesting mix of the band`s roots and some outlandish sounds like the ones in Macchu Picchu.

An interesting left turn for the strokes where they explore the sounds of new wave in a tasteful manner, that was a much needed change in direction for the band, songs like macchu picchu see the strokes trying new things and succeeding at it, while others like under cover of darkness see them returning to their classic sound with a more nuanced and flavorful sonic pallet. Unfortunately the songwriting isn’t there for quite a few songs here, and the second half of the album is largely ... read more

Dont get why most strokes fans say this is their least favorite album of theirs. Overall its solid and its a good departure from the band's iconic sound

With a happy go lucky take on new wave, this is a refreshing take from The Strokes. Perhaps it's not as hard hitting as their earlier days, but this is the most fun they have ever seemed to have.

Favorite tracks: Machu Picchu, Under Cover of Darkness, Two Kinds of Happiness, You're So Right, Taken for a Fool, Call Me Back
