Drowned in Sound

It’s an enjoyable record, but one that’s more likely to point you in the direction of their original influences than achieve notability in its own right.

It's an album that does many things well but nothing to perfection.

So much of the album is straining to be more than just an homage to the club sounds of the late 80s that it ends up being a bit less.

Blue Songs tends to lean hard on the spiritless side of music-making, more concerned with organization rather than the intangible warmth of the songs.

I like the sounds on display here, but it always feels somewhat soulless when I come back to it.

Standout: Answers come in dreams
Favs: Falling, Painted eyes, Visitor, My house
Least fav: It’s alright

Different line-up, different sound, different impact, just a colourful company wishing, rather in vain, to revive the uplifting ecstacy of Chicago house, ending with a terrible cover of the classic anthem It's Alright.
