The Needle Drop

Black Dresses mercilessly kills us with kindness on Peaceful as Hell.

The Canadian noise-pop duo’s music conjures a psychotic slumber party, or a Second Life rave, but remains grounded in the bittersweet beauty of lifelong friendship.

Big W to Anthony Fantano for the recommendation. I listened to a little bit of this and wasn’t crazy on it, but I hoped a full listen would kinda reveal this thing a bit, and yeah, this is amazing.

Actually really fun and cute despite the harsh and noisy production of the album. This wasn’t as gimmicky as I thought it would be and the songwriting on this album is actually pretty nice tbh. I wasn’t a big fan of this as Anthony or Brad Taste, but I still enjoyed my time with it.

R.I.P Black Dresses, your collab was legendary and I highly doubt people will forget it.

Black Dresses made a album I didn't like in 2019 called THANK YOU I thought Black Dresses was just a gimmicky thing with just being as annoying as possible but now its actually really listenable and *gasp* actually really good. The whole listen is really fun and crazy without it slowing down once, it's those rare albums where you see yourself playing this for a long time. It's elements of mixing electronic music and industrial rock works so well. Loved this wasn't expecting this to be that good.
