Forever fans of the duo will find more of what they love here but in a new enough configuration to surprise. It's a release that somehow feels like it has less to prove from a duo not quite overdue for their follow-up to a huge success.
Kllo's lyrical themes are nothing out of the ordinary for lovelorn pop music, but their balance of tender introspection and airy yet zestful production sets them apart.

On ‘Maybe We Could’, Kllo are still making moodily lit club music for shy people, but it feels like they have less to prove this time around.

No Ripcord

There are some appealing songs here that deserves to be on a Spotify playlist or in a chill lounge environment. However, they struggle to stand out next to subpar material over the course of a full-length record.

My favorite record of 2016 was Wet's DON"T YOU—which painted my walks every morning to my local coffee shop with the most wonderful haze of Kelly's light vocals and simple arrangements that packed the ultimate dream poppy punch. This album is so chill, as expected. It's nothing that will blow you away, but there are definitely some tracks that will stick with me for a while.

Favorite tracks: Cursed, Insomnia, Somehow, Maybe We Could, 1 Up, A Mirror
Least favorite: Ironhand
Kllo nuance yearning vocals with shuffled 90s rave and garage rhythms, giving their songs a unique finesse. There isn't anything spectacular here or a track you feel the need to skip. It works as an airy, cohesive but short mood-piece.
maybe we could has some super smooth garage production and vocals, but most of the album just kinda doesn't do anything with either of them. "insomnia," "my gemini," and "a mirror" all do something to set themselves apart from the rest, which is good at least.
Everything is very smooth...
