Within a week of Duality’s release, Duke Dumont stated in an interview that “An album is probably the worst business decision you could make as an artist”. While I do find that to be a ridiculous viewpoint (this is albumoftheyear.org, after all), looking from the perspective of someone in his genre, it does sort of make sense. An album that got a ridiculously low rating by Pitchfork, but is an absolute masterpiece of a deep house record.

It starts off with 'Therapy' absolutely emotional track with a beautiful piano drop and some really strong synths. / 'The Power' with Zak Abel is a mix of both genres. This is a song that I can definitely imagine playing in the radio, but also in a club or on Tomorrowland. Zak is an experienced vocalist in the genre. Therapy is amazing.

The other tracks are mid.

EDM has become a cut, copy, paste type deal, and Duke Dumont is doing nothing to save it.
