Planet’s Mad is an intense listen, a runaway train devouring everything in its path. It’s also an absolute tour de force from an extremely talented producer who is only going from strength to strength.

The Line of Best Fit
Unlike the cheap thrills of “Harlem Shake”, Baauer’s productions here are detailed and dense, while somehow retaining the looseness of dubstep’s best drops.

AllMusic
An aggressive bomb of an album, the LP packs a dozen powerful tracks into less than 40 minutes, making for a physically demanding experience ideal for a packed club or a sweaty gym.

Exclaim!

Some artists just thrive better in the collab booth, and while there are some undeniable party-starters here, and a base-level banging-ness that's hard to ignore, Planet's Mad suggests Baauer might be one of them. Playing to your strengths is never a bad idea.

The Needle Drop
Despite fizzling out, Baauer's sophomore album is packed with some quality bangers.
68
Pitchfork
With battering-ram drums and cavernous bass, the producer’s second album is a high-energy drama about planetary destruction that almost dares you not to take it seriously.

Slant Magazine
Essentially finding 10 different ways to pummel the ear, the album is a relentless experience, burying what traces of melody there are beneath thundering drums and bass. It’s a soundtrack fit for a world in such disrepair that there’s no option but to throw one last raucous dance party.

This things a blast man, I'm having so much fun with it. It's just one bass-heavy, hard hitting, percussive banger after another. This kind of club music is admittedly a weakness of mine but I think Baauer brings something really thrilling to the scene.

original review:
i only know who baauer is because of his song "harlem shake," so i went into this album with very, very low expectations, and i was blown away. since 2013, he's matured so much and has evolved from making whatever that was into a respectable electronic musician who has the skills to make something really great, which he does here. planet's mad is really dark and tribal, but also manages to be energetic enough to not be a ... read more

Some of Baauer's most focused work to date is overflowing with bangers you'd hear coming out of some club in the TRON world, for sure.

Sounding like TNGHT'S last release, but the extra flare helps
