I almost forgot about this album! Just yesterday I saw it at a local record store, and I realized that I had never actually listened to it all the way through - just the first few songs. I bought the record and listened to the full album, and I was surprised by how... 'unique' it is. In PJ's discography, this album kinda stands out, especially for when it came out.

What a cathartic experience to talk with PJ Harvey about desire, on an old couch, in a differentiating and experimenting mood.
The multitalented singer/songwriters's fourth album 'Is This Desire?' is her most underrated effort yet and the reason for that might be the fact that it was released after her critically acclaimed debut and sophomore albums and her breakthrough third album, also 'Is This Desire?' was followed by the fan favourite 'Stories From the City'. People get hard to THIS?
The first of PJ Harvey’s albums to not completely shatter my expectations and blow me away, Is This Desire? takes yet another different approaches than her previous effort To Bring You My Love. On her fourth effort, Harvey takes a far more subdued and subtle direction, so brooding at times that it could cross into a goth rock territory; yet another comparison to her already similar sound to The Bad Seeds that developed on her previous album.
