Besides the fact that Lupe himself hates this record, the main problem here is a glaring, almost mechanical detachment between between music and musician; on any given track, Lupe's performance sounds like a complete afterthought.

We should have listened. Lupe knew better. He warned us. Cash Money was developing something unspeakable in its labyrinth. Lupe could not have told us directly about what was going on at Cash Money Research. Atlantic Records was investing heavily into the research being developed at Cash Money, Lupe was silenced. TOO radio friendly. none of this makes me want to die or anything, butgod this is sappy and generic and frankly very boring. words i never said was a highlight, i liked the production and straightforward lyrics, however that wasnt enough to bring this album up. also, what were the guitars in state run radio?? they were so out of place and had a wannabe metal sound to them, giving yet another problem with this record. whoever MDMA is, he had some awfully bland features, as did basically ... read more
