'Mordechai' is a beautiful melodic story, consisting of 10 trilogies and each expressed with complete minimalism. Minimal wave of Tame Impala.

Khuangbin deliver a groovy, soulful display of musical intricacies and mood-evoking on their 4th studio album, "Mordechai". The LP traverses familiar psychedelic-rock pathways to their previous works, but with less defining character, leaving the experience relaxing but not necessarily engaging.

Despite being perceived as an instrumental record, their are some vocal passages on the project, which even still are starkly lacking enthusiasm, unfortunately. Rarely will the absent ... read more

Khruangbin newest record doesn't run away from the formula they presented in their first two records, but it's one of that evokes more exotic sounds and vibes than ever on their songs.

I really wanted to love this as much as their first two records, especially Con Todo El Mundo. It’s not bad, their sound is still relaxing and hypnotic. I just hope they stick to their original roots and don’t become too influenced by mainstream pop culture.

Chill music, vibing material.
I just hoped to see more of a variety, more involvement and emotion poured in this album.
But maybe I was probably expecting a different mood and tone.
It is not a 3 in any way.

Fav. tracks: Pelota, One to Remember

Wonderful instrumental blend of dub, funk and psyche music which makes for a great backdrop when doing things that might require your attention.

Khruangbin are exceptional at setting a certain mood throughout their bodies of work, and this record is no different. Throughout this record we hear glimpses of funk rock similar to that of 60s-70s music and then on other tracks we get this amazing experience of psychedelic-latin funk fusion that is indeed a straight vibe. I listened to this album on repeat 3 times while playing Just Cause 4 and didn’t even realize. The entire record is cohesive and is just very well composed. The ... read more

The guitar solos are the best this album has to offer.

Kinda moody, chill and dreamy type of vibe. Really enjoyable.

Really great sounds! This is type of stuff for s3x playlists. Just a better balance of catchy with wider variety of sounds would make this band 100/100

I though this was an interesting record, and I'm a little indecisive about it but I did enjoy it as I listen to the album I realized that this trio has not lost an ear for a groove as I could not stop moving listening to these things , and for the bands first time having an album where vocals are strongly present I think they are pretty good, but unfortunately while I do think that the goods outweigh the falts I do think the faults are quite present, for example I do feel this album is a little ... read more

Rating: No Balls?
Relatively an unretentive funky-disco-psych rock quote on quote “groove.” Unmindful of its own abusive use of repeated dance “passages,” not realizing that the listener seems to notice their schtick as it gets increasingly reused until it becomes a mush of a no-longer-catchy refrain sprayed washed out beat. Gets points for the occasional Latisms, I suppose. Loses them in its unaware state of being locked in a time-trap. “Forget everything you do, ... read more

paraphrasing a YT comment, anthony's review is the quintessential "never smoked weed in my life" vibe.

Khruangbin’s latest is a fine edition to their very cosmic, jam heavy catalog. I’ve been dying for them to update their sound a little bit, which they do by bringing in a slew of vocals. Which, yes, takes some of the more cosmic and mysterious vibes out of their music. Clearly, they still an work a little more on their sound still, hone their vocals and bring back the more spontaneous vibes of their early days.
