txt might not have found their signature sound just yet but at least they're trying to find it instead of relying on the typical generic kpop sound, I enjoyed the variety of genres and styles they went for in this album and i hope they continue to lean onto the more synth-wave "experimental" modern sound
also, the vocal line never shined brighter but I'm still not a fan of the heavy voice editing big hit has been experimenting with

This is so stupid. It feels stupid. I feel stupid for listening to this stupid stupid. Mediocrity turned into a commodity in k-pop music this year, and boy groups won't hesitate to make that a pure, legit statement. "The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY" is the last warning we'll get before the entire genre turns polluted by psycho fangirls and novice shower singers.

In the final instalment of The Dream Chapter, things take a darker turn. Not necessarily the music itself, but the concepts. For example, light R&B title track 'Can't You See Me?' speaks of fracturing dreams and a deterioration in communication. 'Drama' lacks the oomph of an album opener, 'Maze in the Mirror' is a calm acoustic ballad that follows the subdued funk of 'Fairy of Shampoo' and 'Eternally' comes with the surprises you'd want from a K-pop song.

Funny, isn't it? The allegedly ... read more

I found STAR to be pretty mediocre and somewhat forgettable, and I found MAGIC to be really enjoyable (except for one song in it), so I was pretty skeptical getting into this project. But gladly, I had a somewhat enjoyable experience with this EP. Eternity is a pretty fun and enjoyable record. It has what you expect from the group: poppy and energetic production and tone, vocals that range from decent to good, and pretty okay lyrical content. I don't think this is as ambitious and fun as MAGIC, ... read more

The main issue with this EP is that even if most of these are good, or at least not necessarily bad, songs. They all tend to be more or less boring with the exception of "Can't You See Me" and "Eternally". I still didn't hate any of the tracks tho and even found some nice production and arrangement choices.

Best: Can't You See Me?
Worst: Fairy of Shampoo

This could've been such a good album with 4 major bops. But the middle of the album drags it down to "still a good album but not fantastic" with 2 forgettable filler songs.

TXT is back with their third album and the shift in tone is noticeable. Here we see the dudes take on a angstier, more emotional side to their regular synthpop formula. This leads to tracks like Can't You See Me, or Eternally. Which seem like regular TXT tracks, but then repeatedly surprise you with effective darker and grittier elements. The boyz certainly seem a lot moodier here, but at least they know where they came from. In tracks like Drama, or FOS. They explore their more youthful side, ... read more

NME really hyped them, lol.

This album is a collection of unispiring songs that sounds like demos, I mean, 'PUMA' is unfinished and what's wrong with 'Eternally'? I don't know what they tried to do, but didn't worked.

they have a good start in each song but always find a way to ruin it

The problem with this album itself is the boys' lack of direction in their work.
It seems that they have not yet discovered their musical signature and are in a more experimental medium, which makes the songs very hit or miss for those who listen. And in my case it was quite miss.

It is still too early to judge the group's musical work, they have good vocals and a clean harmony of voices, just needing to find a song that mixes everyone's voice with the melody and forms a beautiful ballad or ... read more

easily one of the best releases out of korea in the past few years, and by far one of the best internationally so far in 2020. each track is different and enjoyable from the first listen and it stays that way. drama is incredible with it's trumpets, piano, and shaker-snare heavy backbeat. oh my god! can't you see me is a phenomenal title track, with an addictive whistle. the verses are catchy, the prechorus is incredible (shoutout to the "crumbling sandcastle, whose the liar" ... read more
