Pyrrhon's 2017 release, What Passes for Survival, is - in my eyes - one of the greatest death metal albums ever made. The songwriting wizardry and technical prowess on display there were massive and mind-blowing. So, how does the New York powerhouse go forward from there? Is it possible for Pyrrhon to further push the envelope that they've already torn to shreds?

The pacing to Abscess Time is kind of unnerving. The first half is comprised of 5-8 minute tracks while the second half is comprised of 2-4 minute tracks, with the exception being the 8 minute “Rat King Lifecycle” as the closer.
