On his latest project, the Brooklyn rapper realizes his vision. His forceful and focused bars are just one aspect of the highly skilled emcee’s community-focused and spiritually rewarding music.
Ay, uh. Ay, uh. Ay, uh.
It’s apparent to me that Medhane loves his craft
his past work, “Full Circle,“ left me on my ass.
The production on that thing screams abstract and timeless
One thing remains for certain
He’s still got the chance to shine, big.
New album out, called “Cold Water”, yes it’s true
The man just can’t progress
The water’s murky, no matter how blue
The production’s less memorable

This is the sound of stepping up.

On his previous release from February, Medhane only truly struggled from my perspective in the sense of brevity. His ideas seemed incomplete; his music didn't have enough time to breathe. The whole thing felt rushed, not in the sense of being made too quickly but instead concepts quickly shifting to new ones without allowing the build to occur.

Lyrically Medhane sounds more focused than ever before, and musically Cold Water is well-rounded - less experimental and more accessible than ... read more
