The Needle Drop

Despite the plethora of hype building under this Texas MC and producer, Travis Scott's Owl Pharaoh doesn't sound like much more than a rap demo that bites its influences a little too hard.

Sounds like a guy who just lost his virginity to a free music editor...

Whilst Travi$ Scott's debut mixtape is definitely very inconsistent & quite derivative at times, I still think that Travi$ had found at least a little bit of his sound. Although at some points he completely drowns in his influences (those being Kid Cudi & Kanye West). This is still a pretty good project, & I think if you're a fan of Travis Scott, you should check this out.

It doesn't start out great however, because "Meadow Creek" is probably his worst solo track to date. ... read more

One of the most generic pieces of music I've ever experienced.

Travis Scott's worst project and his first one. I don't blame him for lots of the negatives on this album as he was just starting his career but lots of the songs are still unlistenable. Travis also hasn't developed his sound as much in this album and you can hear him trying to be like his influences a lot in this project. Overall it wasn't a great start, but he has improved a lot since this.

BEST TRACKS: Upper Echelon, Quintana

WORST TRACKS: Drive
