Healing Is A Miracle is the sound of an artist gently and creatively exploring new ways to progress her music without sacrificing any of the crystalline, deceptively powerful identity she’s built up over the years.

The vocalist and producer Juliana Barwick’s revelatory new album asks us to picture healing at a moment when the task feels impossible.

Q Magazine

This is a record that opens up the time and space to think, picking up echoes, melting them down into something new.

Loud and Quiet

Julianna Barwick has carved out her own niche of the genre offers an inviting, dreamy atmosphere that nourishes like a hot bath; rejuvenating, hymnal and healing.

Her fourth album proves that she can apply those techniques to more structured, dynamic songs in a way that's instantly enthralling.

Barwick masterfully creates a temporary escape from reality which relaxes tensions that slowly surrender and dissolve into its harmless components.

No Ripcord

Healing is a Miracle is an entrancing album from start to finish, and will be a gratifying listen for both long-time Barwick fans and newcomers to her music alike.

Beats Per Minute

There are some really great ideas at work on this album, but too often they are not given enough attention, or they come alive right as the song is about to end.

The Line of Best Fit

Healing Is A Miracle is a magical album whose depths reveal themselves slowly even if the record itself (at only 34 minutes) disappears in the blink of an eye.

Slant Magazine
The album overcomes its slightness thanks to its willingness to dabble in different textures.
Spectrum Culture
Barwick’s new record, though less enveloping and hymn-like than her previous records, is an invigorating work by an artist who has always been an expert in following the music wherever it needs to go.

The best moments involve stranger juddering textures, as on Flowers or Wishing Well. Beauty is always better with an edge.

The Observer

If it feels less ambitious than its predecessor, 2016’s Will – which explored acoustic settings from a Moog factory to a motorway underpass – it’s also more ravishingly beatific.

Barwick's ability to construct entire worlds through moaning is such a talent. Healing is a Miracle has plenty of moaning and even some moaning from peak moaners. Jonsi, the moaner of the North, makes an appearance for an absolute moaning smorgasbord. While this album follows the earnest moaning of her previous work, some new sinister robot moans break the human moaning textures. This moan-on-moan action creates beautiful dialogs between echoing chambers of sound. Instead of feeling like music ... read more
First album that's really resonated with me in several weeks. This record is heavenly. I'm loving the Grouper vibes with the mixture of instrumentation and gorgeous, layered vocals. This user score is way too low in my opinion so check this out please!

What a moment of peace. What a moment of bliss. What a beautiful, healing thing.

Thank you.

I'm still having withdrawals after finishing DARK and this album.... it's just making them worse.
I mostly agree with BPM's review -- barring "Inspirit" (the best song on here by a lot) these songs reach the best fruition of their sound too late to make them great. It's still a quite good listening experience -- this is the one time I would wish an album to be longer because I think these ideas are really good, and giving them the space to grow and blossom into great songs would make me love this a lot more. Still a nice, mostly potent ambient album which you should definitely ... read more
