This album is lacking the memorable vocal melodies of later Sting songs and earlier tunes by The Police, but it does continue the socially and politically conscious messages from Sting's earlier work and features some interesting jazz flourishes here and there, so, even though I don't even like jazz, extra points for variety. The Dream of the Blue Turtles is as much a work of world literature as it is a pop album. A brilliant pairing of stories and feelings with performances of nuance and virtuosity. The album occupies a unique sonic space as well- you are unlikely to hear music that sounds like this anywhere outside of Sting's canon.
