Living up to its namesake, half of this album is beautifully written and poetic, the other half a veteran songwriter abusing tremolo and compression over semi-acoustic Graceland retreads. It doesn't help that this album opens with Getting Ready for Christmas Day, a particularly forgettable sour note filled with baffling production choices. Still, the rest of the album is mostly pleasant, even if it lacks the spark that characterizes the best Paul Simon material.

I know that this isn't my main music, I mean I love folk, but Paul Simon has an style very "Paul Simon" we love bridge over trouble waters and so. But you know is hard sometimes separate the artist from his music, more yet with a career like his. Whatever, the production is amazing, at least I notice very much the effort to make something fresh and different, the ideas are there, Paul is fighting with his style and getting over it.
