"MTV1987" is a roughly-produced but intimate record that caught me a bit off guard, mostly because of the fact that Kevin Abstract is rapping about women. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just that I'm so used to him rapping about being gay nowadays. Otherwise, pretty damn solid debut.

i never did listen to this much. maybe because i had american boyfriend and never really listened to this much cause of that, idk. but its cool from what i remember until Apple Music pulled it
Sounding very confused but also focused, Kevin Abstract's 2014 breakthrough mixtape shows plenty of promise for his future endeavors. I was initially caught off guard because of the fact that Kevin rapped about women all over this album; obviously he had not come out yet. It makes the album a little weird, knowing that this was a facade and nothing really genuine. Super good album. Apple Music should get it back tbh be honest.
Kevin Abstract is for sure an interesting character. I think he is extremely relatable, working along the lines of a Childish Gambino-esque style. Favorite tracks- Hell/Heronia, DRUGS, Tame Cab, Snakes, and Camp Green Lake. I can dig it.
