Throughout much of The Ghost Inside, Vigil's pensive lyricism produces sincere reflections on suffering, self-doubt and sacrifice.


For the most part ... this is The Ghost Inside getting back to the largely straightforward, undeniably powerful mix of metal and hardcore they have always done so well.


As they slam close a painful chapter of their past and look forward to a bright future, The Ghost Inside have never sounded more vital.

The progression of The Ghost Inside's recent release is absolutely uplifting and redemptive, and the lyrics across the album represent this well. The metalcore group were involved in a fatal car accident that left many of the members in critical condition and even led to the loss of the drummers leg. Even through this, the group pursued and six years later were able to release their self-titled album.

I'm not gonna lie... I'm only reviewing this because I noticed this album was released around the same time as a member is getting #MeToo'd. That's how it ended up on my radar, and how I justify reviewing an album I have no business listening to.

The Ghost Inside have suffered a through a long journey on their road to playing music again. Through injury and learning to play music again, they've done a lot to get back to their musicianship. The context of their history makes this album a difficult one to review.
