After dipping his toe into slight sound experimentation on The Nylon Curtain, Billy decided to play it safe for his next release. In 1983, he had just recently started dating Christie Brinkley and she proved to be a large influence on much of the material found on this album. Billy was lovestruck for a broadway model and the lyrics just started pouring out. We can hear this obvious influence on tracks like "Uptown Girl" and of course "Christie Lee".
