Long season is such a beautiful, transcendent, unique and inspiring 35 minute journey. I've struggled with a lot of Fishmans previous releases, possibly due to a lot of the reggae inspired stuff being complete non-starters for me, but Long season is a completely different story and seemingly blows everything else the band has done out of the water. from start to finish the album is a consistently gorgeous listen, with incredible layering and instrumentation. Rating The Top 100 On AOTY #35
I mean this is about as close as music can get from just sounding plain out perfect. These 35 minutes of pure mesmerization feels as if it goes by in a flash. I listen to this whenever I go on long rides, need something to sleep to, want to relax to something, want to think, I mean the point of I listen to this for a lot of occasions. One of the best first time listens to an album I've ever had. When the leitmotifs from the start came back in at the end I wanted to ascend.
I was stepping out of my comfort zone yesterday, when I decided to listen to it. I was looking at a list of short albums because I had to squeeze three into a 100 minute period, and so I chose this one. I was immediately put off by the fact that it was only one track, but I decided against my mind to listen to it anyway.
I'm so glad I did.
