Ashenspire’s Speak Not of the Laudanum Quandary is a definite grower, with only a single track (“Fever Sheds”) serving no purpose.

This is a band who, if they could tighten themselves up at the seams could be one of the best in their genre, but for right now leave me with just too much to pick apart.

Damn, I was kinda disappointed by this after loving Hostile Architecture. Oh well, can't wait to see where they decide to go in the future as a band anyway! Hopefully their next album will be as good as the last one B)

After listening to their 2022 effort (that I find absolutely phenomenal), I decided to check out Ashenspire's previous works, and their debut album reached my expectations.

Speak Not of the Laudanum Quandary shares many similarities with its successor in terms of sound and composition, but the band opted for focusing more on their black metal influences rather than their progressive ones.
