Welcome back to Drone music... but actually not drone music because this is quite proggy compared to other stuff I've heard so far, let's go.

A very ambitious work from the prolific french duo, and probably their most well accomplished, too. On The Dance of the Moon and the Sun, the band splits the incredibly massive tracklisting in two, exploring the dicotomy of sun/moon, day/night. The powerful drones usually presented by them are one of the main tools used in the making of this record, as the duo blends their usual atmospheric aesthetics with beautiful lo-fi folk compositions and sparse instrumentation. If nothing else, I'm glad I made the decision to finish this album entirely and not just rate it off of Side 1, "Moon". And I think it shows how important focus and environment are to an album's listening experience because without taking the time to digest the second half as much as I did today, I'm not sure I would get everything I got out of this album. I've sat here for an hour just trying to encapsulate the utter fucking monolithic experience that this albums near three hour length has subjected upon me. An incorrigibly bleak amalgam of avant-folk, disturbing spoken word rhythmic vocals, plodding post-rock, and an earthen abyssal chasm of dark ambience and droning bleak atmosphere, bleeding solipsism from every individual note presented.
