Exceptional release from a band I hadn't even discovered until recently. Combining many genres and evoking many emotions this really is my kind of music, that which is to be experienced rather than just listened to. I can hear so many different influences here just to name a few: Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Microphones, Swans/Angels of Light,Explosions in the sky etc. My favourite discovery so far of 2017
A very ambitious work from the prolific french duo, and probably their most well accomplished, too. On The Dance of the Moon and the Sun, the band splits the incredibly massive tracklisting in two, exploring the dicotomy of sun/moon, day/night. The powerful drones usually presented by them are one of the main tools used in the making of this record, as the duo blends their usual atmospheric aesthetics with beautiful lo-fi folk compositions and sparse instrumentation.
