This debut record isn't what Gil is most remembered for, but it's the first display of his immaculate poetry and talent. Gil is one of my favorite artists and writers of all time, so I was very interested in diving into his first album. It's nice to know that he's been very profound from the beginning. The way he was never afraid to hold back is very inspiring to me.
Cannot believe I enjoyed this as much as I did because spoken word is really not my thing. There's a bit of light instrumentation to accompany Gil, but it's the ferocity of his intellect which shines through.
Obviously track 6 has not aged well. Outside of that, all the tools are here for Gil to create an absolute classic next time around.
