No Ripcord

Everything Else Matters is a strong and accomplished debut by a band that, whilst clearly taking a lot of their cues from the past, are still looking to push sonic boundaries and create intelligent mood pieces.

AllMusic
There are a lot of bands working this angle in the early 2010s; Pinkshinyultrablast is one of the best, and their debut album shows exactly why.

Drowned in Sound

Everything Else Matters seeps with a vibrant energy radiating through its eight individual pieces.

Tiny Mix Tapes

On Everything Else Matters, the band funnels the Kansas post-rock group Appleseed Cast’s delay-pedal wizardry and open-ended song forms into bright pop that’s more in line with Astrobrite alum Andrew Prinz’s Mahogany.

Clash

From the looped saccharine sighs and bass dips soaring through ‘Metamorphosis’ to the epic tempo-toying chimes of ‘Marigold’, ‘Everything Else Matters’ could just be the alternative winter hymnal you’ve been searching for.

The 405

Everything Else Matters is an inventive, often genuinely exciting blend of noise and pop sensibilities not really heard since the early days of Lush.

With a little more emphasis placed on creating catchy, melodious songs beneath the swathes of undeniably beautifully glimmering sound, this unlikely lot could end up ruling the world.

Listened to this album for the first time on a stormy day at the beach, and couldn’t have picked a better soundtrack.

There are times when the production could use some cleaning and balancing with the vocals, but an otherwise promising debut.

Admittedly a different approach to shoegaze than most, but fails to capture attention.
