The kind of album I'd personally only imagine turning on if I was some angsty preteen after slapping my mom, locking myself in the bathroom and draining her top-quality hair conditioning down the toilet, but otherwise, I'd rather take my chances with the 'nanny' music they play at my doctors' waiting room. On a very lucky day, they play some Otis Redding.

Utterly boring, painfully conceived, almost delusional and unlikeable set of generic indie pop and R&B tracks you've heard before, done ... read more

It's apparent that Dominic Fike has nearly-mastered the craft of the sub-3 minute pop song, but what did he expand on? Well...

I've always seen Fike as an outlier, plain and simple. While his music was always *there*, it never really hit as hard as I wanted. Take his 2018 EP. While it had its moments, I don't think it proved itself to be a classic yet. Or at least, something that stuck. Now, his long-awaited debut record is here, with, the same results, unfortunately.

Dominic Fike truly is acting like a Sub.

Florida based pop artist Dominic Fike has not really interested me as much as he has been forced upon me. As a huge fan of Brockhampton, Dominic's brand of alt-rap and indie rock was pretty much stapled to my forehead by force since the bidding war commenced after the release of his debut EP 'Don't Forget About Me, Demos' (recorded during house arrest, which he later was arrested for...uh...not doing that). And after near endless praise and promotion ... read more

This is "Tinder Anthem" music.
I fucking hate music that sounds like this. I'm never going to listen to this ever again.

Somehow every song manages to feel like an interlude. Nothing was fully fleshed out and this half-assed attempt at a debut album rally falls flat.

dominic fike’s 2018 EP is one of my favorite EPs of all time, so i couldn’t be more excited for whatever he would have released next, and he didn’t disappoint with this. his last EP, being a demo tape, was a lot more raw and a lot less polished than this album, and i do miss that, but the sound this album has isn’t bad at all. dominic’s vocals fit the production very well. it’s also way shorter than i thought it should have been, only being 34 minutes long, ... read more

Dominic Fike's debut studio album, "What Could Possibly Go Wrong", is essentially a continuation of the ideas and song structures that surfaced on his prior demo E.P, "Don't Forget About Me, Demos". Here on the full-length project, the brief and understated sonic attitude makes for a handful of quality tracks, but so-to, a myriad of disappointments.

“3 Nights”, like for many, was my introduction to Dominic’s music, and I’ll admit his brand of ... read more

I was very excited for the album because of how good his ep he dropped last year but tbh im disappointed. This album feels so lazy and unfinished, a lot of the songs are really short.in the end its a generic indie album

The answer to the question is a lot.
A LOT COULD GO WRONG.
A LOT DID GO WRONG.

I don't know how Dominic Fike managed to go from one of the more promising faces in indie-pop to making one of the most unlikable albums I've heard this year. Let's rewind for a second! Dominic Fike surprised many with his "Don't Forget About Me" EP. Riding the virality of the hit track, "3 Nights", Fike managed to get co-signs from the likes of BROCKHAMPTON and later Halsey and Kenny Beats. BIg ... read more

Ever since Brockhampton took Dominic Fike under their wing, I've been excited to see where he would go and what he would achieve artistically. However, I can safely say, this isn't what I expected.

He's blown up like crazy in no time at all and his music has been, for the most part, not at all exciting in any way, shape or form. Sure, he's got good charisma, and his songs are often quite infectious. Yet a lot of the time the final product is quite unremarkable upon further inspection, and his ... read more

What could possibly go wrong?... Him dropping this album.

Dominic Fike always seemed to me like someone who I’m supposed to be a fan of. I had heard a couple of his songs like 3 Nights and Phone Numbers that I thought were catchy but I had never really been drawn to the idea of going out of my to listen to his whole EP. So, this is my first “real” listen to Dominic Fike, and I can’t say I’m happy about this. There’s just such a lack of effort and ambition in ... read more

Dominic Fike releases an almost shockingly poor collection of vapid, overly-short tracks. People like to talk about its genre-bending style, but on his debut album, Fike makes R&B music for people who don't know what R&B is, pop music for those who don't like pop, etc. While his 2018 extended play seemed to have at little bit of profundity, there is nothing here of real substance both sonically and lyrically. For those wanting to dive into the pop influences on here, there are much ... read more

Forgettable Pop Rap which 13 year old girls will fill their Instagram Bios and Captions with because they edgy and these lyrics emotional and they totally relate to him because they just get him on a deeper level you know?

It sounds like Hollister.

The album starts and restarts like twice in the first 5 tracks.

What an ironically apt title. Not only does this album sound unfinished in general, but it also just reeks of this bad and "cringey" energy. Like, holy shit. How do you make a song like "Cancel Me" and go, "Yeah, this needs to go on an album"? IDK man, this was just really bad. It's like if you combined all the annoying aspects of Oliver Tree and Hobo Johnson into one album that sounds way longer than it actually is. At least the cover is cool.

This is the kinda music I'll tolerate drunk when it comes on at a party, but outside of that setting this is a complete snoozefest. None of the songs on here actively annoy me but none of the songs really do anything for me, probably making this the single most boring and forgettable release this year. What a waste of a good album cover.

300th review woohoo!

I've never cared about Dominic Fike. I like 3 Nights but that's basically it- even a song with Kenny Beats came out lackluster. When BROCKHAMPTON stan twitter (a group I was unfortunately a part of) dissolved, all the accounts I followed became dedicated to other people and things- a lot of those accounts became fans of Fike. So when I saw even those accounts were not too happy with this, I really didn't ... read more

I understand that the appeal of this genre of music is to be chill and easy to vibe to, but I got next to nothing out of my first listen from Dominic Fike’s debut album, What Could Possibly Go Wrong? What an ironic title. Listening to it again to try and make sense out of it, the album is flawed at some points and uneventful at others. Most of these songs barely last three minutes, and yet I get the feeling that Dominic doesn’t make the most of this compact format. There are some ... read more

I don't know if it's because I'm deaf on my left ear, but this sounded very average. Dominic sounds so much better when he raps, and I genuinely think it would be better for his music if he incorporated it some more in his work, so it doesn't sound so bland and senseless.

I can’t tell if I care enough to actively dislike this... maybe that in and of itself is enough to deem an album bad... Who knows? All I know is that I’m never coming back to this.

A lackluster Indie Pop album is what could possibly go wrong.

Dominic Fike is an artist that i’ve been following since he broke through in 2018 with a compilation of demos, but most notably, the lead single from that project ‘3 Nights’. That same single would later on help get the attention from artists & their fan bases ranging from Kevin Abstract (of Brockhampton fame), Halsey, and producer Kenny Beats. With his career on the rise and announcing last year that he was in ... read more
