Messier Objects is a lot of fun for those wanting to explore the Notwist's more experimental side.

The Line of Best Fit

Albeit somewhat of an esoteric release in a longstanding band's ever expanding back- and side-catalogue, Messier Objects pays solemn homage to The Notwist's lavish electro-pop output.

As a listening experience in and of itself, Messier Objects offers very little to stimulate or engage and will likely only resonate with the most diehard among the Notwist's fan base.

For the hardcore fan, this is sure to be a fascinating insight, but for the casual listener, or anyone else there's simply not enough here to really make it worth your while.
It’s a bit of a relief to know that this isn’t being pushed as anything but a chance to hear some of the Notwist’s unreleased material, but there isn’t much here for even the long-time Notwist fan.

Embracing emptiness and space is more than fitting as Messier Objects shares it’s name with a cosmic list created by Charles Messier. The list details astronomical objects that resemble comets but where not comets as observed by Messier.
