Pulsing, amorphous incipience... More and more, I find myself returning to this record as a site of spiritual reclamation, a way to reckon with listener fatigue, to think about music as improvised collectivity-building and affective attunement. And, indeed, I feel more deeply attuned to the space around me—feel that my very body is more acutely inhabitable—whensoever I experience We Have Amnesia Sometimes...

Favorite: Ira searches for the slide, sort of (Friday)

A really pulsating and sometimes peaceful little instrumental album from the legendary Yo La Tengo. I think they actually released this on Bandcamp first and (apparently) a vinyl release is coming soon, so that will be pretty cool. I like this new creative direction YLT is heading in. I kinda hope they continue to make music like this in the near future.

*By the way, there's no way I could analyze an ambient/instrumental album like this, so I don't really have a score for it*

Through beautiful sonic textures and drones, Yo La Tengo capture the terror of quarantine. The uncertainty and the boredom. But also the hope, the wonder of what the world will be like when we emerge, and the persistence of the human race to want to emerge.

Not exactly as exciting or engaging as most Yo La Tengo records, but it's still an interesting slightly hypnotic listen. Would like to see them incorporate these sounds more into newer albums.
