Generally speaking, this album is much better executed. The sound is much more uniform and many issues I had with their second album are gone. I do still think at times, the bands sound is a bit predictable and not as impactful as I wish. I think part of my problem is that it sounds too polished on many spots

This isn't a review for The Great Cold Distance by Katatonia. Instead, this is an announcement, and while typically I avoid scoring albums I'm only using as vessels to deliver a message, these things tend to get more attention if they're given a rating and I'm really excited for this upcoming project I'm gonna start working on soon, so I want it to get on as many radars as possible. Sorry for the spam, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with what I'm cookin' up.

Katatonia return with a more Alternative Metal driven album, The Great Cold Distance and for great effect. Although not my favorite from the band it offers a lovely melancholic atmosphere which perfectly illustrates that cold empty feeling of loneliness for one of the more emotional driven and sad records with alongside great songwriting and lyrics pack a punch for one of their better record.s
