Used to be quite big on the Wytches a few years back when their debut was released, it was a pretty cool interpretation on Surfer Rock, with a spooky twist. Songs like “Gravedweller” I still listen to even today. When it comes to this new one, it’s more or less the same than that of their debut, but it seems to lack that grit that made them so appealing to begin with sadly.

Standout: you looked happy to me
favs: cowboy, everyone’s friend
least fav: midnight ride

Made me think of:
Ty Segall
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
The Brian Jonestown Massacre
On their first album in 4 years, The Wytches ditch the Campy, Ghoulish Garage Punk for an exhausted, bluesy album. It’s got a colorful, Psychedelic atmosphere, nods to a lot of the band’s influencers, as well as lyrics that are emotionally investing. I just wish it finished as strongly as it started.

Packed with mega riffs and emotion, the new record by The Wytches is a shift in direction compared to their previous work. It's heavier and bluesier and it plays excellently into the bands strengths. One of the year's finest rock records thus far.
