At once dazzling and heartfelt, Shabrang is an epic journey, and Sevdaliza is brilliantly in control throughout it.

The Needle Drop

Shabrang is often a case of less being more and quiet being loud.

Shabrang’s fifteen tracks are preoccupied with emotional extremes and the prospect of self-understanding gained through testing those extremes, territory not new to Sevdaliza’s writing.

Beats Per Minute

In all of its slow-moving beauty, Shabrang never takes off as one would hope, even if it feels like one of those records that you’re just supposed to like.

Sevdaliza is an international superstar and this album proved that. as the vocals clear and steady, the production starts to brilliantly deteriorate; she demonstrates production prowess and vocal skill with the title track: “shabrang”.

I tend to be super picky with artists that dabble in trip/hop. Because of that, there's only a set of artists I get excited about whenever they plan on dropping a project.

With her previous album ISON, Sevdaliza became one of those artists. The way she was able to balance art-pop and trip/hop were so lovely to me. It set a truly haunting background for her icy, seductive vocals. Her lyricism was just as potent, cutting through the heavy atmosphere with such precision as she touched on our ... read more
