The scale and intensity of Cook’s ambitions are laid bare on this outsized collection, a glimpse at the whirring cogs beneath hyperpop’s pristine casing.
The Line of Best Fit
There is much joy to be found here, amidst many a question mark, but the compiling of a 49 track album with seven themes and this ratio of hit>miss is an achievement in itself - which says a lot for Cook’s skillset.

Holy shit… PC Music founder, label head and sonic wizard A.G. Cook has finally released his debut album after years of dropping loose singles and collaborations here and there and well, purely on a content level it’s definitely worth the wait. 7G features 49 songs, yep 49 coming at over 2 and a half hours of listening. Maybe if it were 5G instead of 7G it would have been more well received (except among boomers, idk what their deal about that is).

While A.G. Cook's debut studio album may be unnecessarily long and tedious at times, outside of maybe a dozen tracks 7G is overall a pretty pleasant experience, ranging from the base sound of PC Music that Cook helped bring into fruition to anything from wonky IDM to more laid back singer-songwriter guitar ballads, you'd be hard-pressed to find an artist with more ... read more

I reviewed this disc by disc, and it's ridiculously long. I'm sorry. Feel free to skip to the bottom if you'd like to read my final thoughts on the album. I haven't proofread this either, since it's so long, so there may be some grammar errors- I'll re-read it soon.
