These are truly wonderful songs that deserved to be poured over and analysed for months to come.
A Creature I Don’t Know stands up well against its feted predecessor and can only add to Laura Marling’s reputation as a songwriter and musician.
Her music's intimate yet distant, earthy yet seemingly not of this earth.
Marling's lyrics are well beyond just about anything else being produced by any of her contemporaries.
Although, many of Laura Marling inspirations and influences are very apparent on A Creature I Don't Know, I mean every female Folk & Singer/Songwriter is going to be immediately compared to Joni Mitchell, but Laura Marling makes it her own, with some very clever and emotional lyrics and with great vocals and great instrumentals, this record is still very good and definitely quite overlooked in her discography.

There are no expectations to be fulfilled, no derogating in sentimentality. "A creature I don't know" is a beautifully put ... read more
