Super intriguing. Definitely a lot of low points, but overall an awesome experience. Another con that I’m now realizing is there’s nothing to talk about with this album; after taking several listens I still don’t know what I like about it other than the fact that I like it.
Okay, there's something that separates Church Mouth from the two albums that I listened to so far by Portugal. and that is that PTM was able to make a 5 minute long song and keep me interested. That is a feat they hadn't accomplished yet, and they had with Children.
Needless to say, I enjoyed the entire album, but some songs were boring, and sometimes I couldn't focus on some songs because of this (especially Sleeping Sleepers Sleep) but other than that, this was good.
Rating: B
Like Censored Colors, this time, less prog rocky with more chorus heavy and brave leads. The guitar hits hard with a surprising amount of alt-indie rock groove. Even goes into a bit of soul.
