The Line of Best Fit

Fast Food isn’t as labyrinthine as her debut – exits are neon-lit fire escapes rather than barricaded doors – but it is just as powerful.

The Skinny

Fast Food reduces her template to a tribal thrum; little more than bass, drums and guitar. It gives that voice the room it needs to breathe and while its sound board is lo-fi, its ambition is high stakes all the way.

Drowned in Sound
The songs on this record have been delivered with the kind of aplomb that only someone with an unshakeable confidence in their work can muster, which suggests that Nadine Shah’s artistic future is mouthwatering.
So it’s sweet, it’s sour, it’s angry, it’s reflective, ‘Fast Food’ is pretty successful in capturing the ups and downs of complicated relationships. The fact it manages that in a way which is neither hackneyed or predictable is near miraculous.

On follow up album Fast Food she draws from a similar musical palette, but the intervening years have helped her sound bolder and more confident (not that she’s ever been particularly lacking in that department).

まずジャケットが素晴らしい。音の方は退廃美に満ちたオルタナ・フォークで、PJ HarveyやFiona Appleが引き合いに出されるのも納得。Name Your Price。
If you like alternative rock this is a great album. Very unique, Fast Food will always stand on its own.
