Self-hatred encapsulated in one singular record of hauntingly sombre atmosphere and depressed mood. Every listen feels cathartic and full stop angst-ridden. I feel depressed now, thanks to you Lisa. 😢

good slowcore album but lyrically makes me a bit too uncomfortable to further enjoy

A rare work of emotional nudity, displaying one of the most honest and crude voices in popular music. The girl is out to experiment with different sounds and melodies, but does not show any concerns with cohesiveness or formality. It could be good, it could be bad, choose for yourself.

On first listening to 'Geek the Girl' you might find yourself, as I did, playing 'spot the influence' but it's only when you look at the album's release date you realise this work actually predates the Eels, Sparklehorse and many other lo-fi indie pop acts of the day.

It's this fact that helps cement the album as a classic - the album's influence is huge and the style Germano landed on here was certainly ground-breaking for '94.
