The signs of Stevie's prowess are getting stronger. Wether it's his vocal interpretation (title track, "Sugar") or his social lyrical themes ("Never Had a Dream Come True", "Heaven Help Us All"), 'Signed, Sealed and Delivered' shows clear signs of growth. Signed sealed and delivered isn’t the most amazing album ever but it’s pretty good for what it is. In the grand scheme of things it’s a pre-golden age Stevie wonder album so having not heard it before I didn’t know what to expect fully but I had an idea, and this album is pretty much that exact idea I had in my head for this. Some bangers for sure but too many just pretty good tracks to make this album something worth returning to outside of a few cuts for me.
So you’re telling me this is considered still one of the weakest Stevie Wonder albums, I’m afraid there’s no such term when Stevie’s concerned.
The clavinet is back and he's getting funkier with it and he's really getting into it vocally. That cover of The Beatles' We Can Work Out is something I didn't know I needed until now. Really getting hints of what's to come
Some great songs on here, this thing is almost pretty good if it wasn’t for the filler in this album.
