After the disappointing listen to "rising indie-pop star" BENEE's debut album, this first full-length by Katy J Pearson is a refreshing reminder of what indie music was always designed to be – fresh, energetic, youthful, and, most important, alive. Return definitely has some flaws and inconsistencies, but they're strongly overweighted with this positive emotional burst this record gives to the listener. It's all really mediocre but I really liked it all.

Some cute indie-folk, every song had something good about it. The vocals were a bit rough but for character, kinda reminded me of Zella Day or Joanna Newsom. Rising artist for sure, just hope better more personal work is to come. Not crazy about the aesthetic but it's a step in a good direction.

Return is the unusually-named debut album by Katy J Pearson, a wonderful little piece of the UK Indie scene, that seems to all-too-often be swept under the rug despite the wonderful melodies and textures that are explored.

you can add Ali Chant to the group of producers, including John Congleton and Jonathan Rado, that has the greatest effect on the current sound of high quality music. each of them has their strengths. Congleton is adept at smoothing out all the rough patches in an artist's repertoire. he is a "finisher" and the end product is always pristine.
