GIGsoup

An absolutely relentless, brooding experience from start to finish, Reluctant Hero proves that the age of mediocre supergroups is long gone.

Metal Hammer
Once again, the main strength of Killer Be Killed is the equal opportunity policy of letting each of the frontmen impress their own strength and personality on every song.

Exclaim!

Though it's not pushing boundaries, Reluctant Hero proves metal can be catchy without being stupid. If melodic groove metal needs a hero in 2020, it's Killer Be Killed.

Kerrang!
Every note and drumbeat speaks of friends enjoying the freedom to do whatever they damn well want, in the company of musicians and composers whose talents bring out the best in each other. Even amongst such impressive back catalogues, Killer Be Killed have crafted a record which absolutely destroys in its own right.

The record scorches earth, but, like the self-titled debut, it is not a boilerplate amalgamation of these guys’ resumes – and that’s not only surprising, but impressive.

Reluctant Hero is marginally more consistent than its rudimentary and flaccid predecessor, but even that praise is marred by a lot of the same problems left over from their debut LP.

Listen. You've got the legendary Max Cavalera of various metal acts on guitar and vocals, as well as Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan, you've got Troy Sanders of Mastodon on bass and vocals, and you've got Ben Koller of Converge on drums. If you're a metal fan and you aren't at least aware of half those names you have sorely limited your metal scope. All three vocalists are exceptional for the genre with distinct voices of their own, and each of them take turns holding the spotlight ... read more

YES THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE SIX YEAR WAIT

I just... oh man. I’ll write a proper review soon, I need to hear this some more..

Edit: okay. I think they’ve solidified themselves as strong and very much useful band in the groove, alt, thrash, and just metal in general, world. A really tight four piece, each member brings something fresh to the table, whether the thunderous vocals from Gone Is Gone, and Mastodon’s very own Troy Sanders, the harsh, ... read more

I was waiting for this record to drop and waiting to finally hear it. Now that I did, oh man... It's one of the best Metal albums of this year no doubt

Killer Be Killed is one of the many supergroups that are known in the Metal genre. Sadly, most of them are all hype and just a few deliver the musical proposals that we as fans might expect, but I looked at Killer Be Killed and their all-star line-up and I said to myself: "This guys can't go wrong". And they didn't go wrong at all. ... read more

I get that where you draw the line is subjective with this brand of metal but this to me is more corny than cool.
