On their last album, Lambchop demonstrated the beauty of simplicity, wielding vocoder processing like an instrument to craft strangely mesmerising lamentations through warbled and isolated singing. It was a stroke of genius, and while easily dismissable as experimentation gone wrong, all too real were the genuine sentiments behind its raw delivery. A covers album but it hangs together pretty well as the band's interpretations of most of these songs are very expansive instrumentally - Lambchop just keep doing what recent Lambchop are already used to doing basically.

Sections like the extended ending of 'Golden Lady' are where the album sounds most sure of itself, but when the boys occasionally up the tempo, like on their pleasantly squelchy take on The Supremes 'Love Is Here and Now You're Gone', it works alright too.
