It’s not for the faint hearted, and its point isn’t to make you smile. But if you’re up for the challenge Damogen Furies is a steaming black shot of adrenaline.
Damogen Furies is less subtle and funky than Ufabulum, but it’s more focused. Here, Jenkinson commits to one primary thematic idea per song, and develops and interrupts it within the bounds of a clear larger structure.
The intensity of Damogen Furies is overwhelming, yet in its composition it’s easy to sense that Jenkinson is calm and collected throughout.
Often tawdry and occasionally remarkable, Damogen Furies is a scattershot release, but one that's definitely worth exploring.
Different, Risky but after a few listens i have come to love this album especially the first two tracks.
Squarepusher keeps the energy high and frantic on this release. Catchy, chip-tune melodies are woven amongst the growling breakbeat darkness and all subtly underlined by his jazz influences.
Requires a few spins for each track to really open up.
