Yes! More of this and less of the synth punk bullshit! I beg of you!

This is legitimately the most interesting this band has sounded in a very long time, and I'm all for it. While I'm not too keen on 100 Gecs' or Ghostemane's features, the album as a whole is still very enjoyable with some particularly outstanding features from Full of Hell and Youth Code. I can only pray the band is going to keep this level of quality going forward, because they have not released anything this enjoyable since ... read more

'DISCO4 (PART I)' is probably the band's most experimental work from now on.

Packed with both bangers and duds, new HEALTH's electronic project, DISCO4 is a solid collection of some of the most interesting ideas in the band's career. A rich selection of features, however, doesn't nearly cover the main Achilles' heel of HEALTH – Jake Duzsik's boring, sounding the same on every song (and almost on every album!), lifeless vocals.

Highlight: FULL OF HEALTH (with Full of Hell) followed by COLORS (with The Soft Moon)
Worst song: DELICIOUS APE (with Xiu Xiu)

Feature heavy electro-industrial music is fairly unheard of, but HEALTH manage to pull it off to varying results. While the intro CYBERPUNK 2020 sets the vibe to an eerie and surreal dystopian future, the following two tracks go in two completely different directions and it just feels like I'm getting whiplash going track to track as each featured artist take HEALTH's aesthetic in a completely different direction, although that isn't to say that that's entirely a bad thing, I liked that the rap ... read more

Only 3 new songs apart from the singles...😔

Anyway, this entire album is pretty fucking awesome. Surprisingly, I think it actually flows really naturally. The fact that I can say that in an album which features artists from 100 gecs to JPEGMAFIA to Full Of Hell to Soccer Mommy to Xiu Xiu is unbelievable.

"DISCO4 (PART 1)" is a collection of collaborations that the aggressive, genre-annihilating band, HEALTH have racked up over the past years. The earliest of these singles ... read more

It starts off okay, nothing met my expectations, however. The production is super bland and sonically similar to the foreground stuff. Even some of the better artists on here didn't have great features. It is super post-apocalyptic but really bland. It had a lot of potentials I guess. 100 gecs could barely let their sound out beside a few sound effects, Ghostemane sounds the same everywhere, JPEGMAFIA didn't even sound mad. Disappointing. The electro aspects of this are super boring, the ... read more

I know that good art should evoke thinking and shake things ups, but I literally don't understand what I listened too, I can't remember anything about it, even last.fm didn't add the songs I heard.
But it wasn't the worst experience with an album, it wasn't brain numbing at all it was just strange as hell.
I will probably change the score when I figure out what the fuck I am listening too.

ugh...

i wanted to like this so badly. i LOVED health and ghostemane’s collab when i first heard it and ive had it on my playlist for AGES, so i was hoping for songs of the same quality to appear on this but thats really just not what i got at all in my humble opinion. im not a big fan of the lead singer’s voice and the sound design is the wrong kind of moody (again, just my opinion). and it sounded almost exactly the same all the way through it except for BODY/PRISON, POWER ... read more

I like a good amount of the songs on here but I feel it all comes down to if you like the feature's music or not. I really liked the Peggy and Xiu Xiu songs but really didn't like the Ghostemane and Youth Code ones. Kinda a mixed bag.

The exciting noise behind "DISCOG 4 (PART I)" sounds good while your surprise and fascination lasts. Unfortunately, HEALTH cannot fan the fire enough that the steam loses at not even halfway through the album. Though the features occasionally excite, the wildness of it all just becomes an odd backburner record.

HEALTH’s newest record is consistently abrasive, assaulting the listener with blown out percussion and aggressive synths. However, it manages to provide a solid sampling within that direction, with its fair share of bangers, melancholic jams, and atmospheric instrumental tracks.

The often-stripped back vocals allow the production to take center stage, which is where the most personality shines through. Every track (with the exception of the opener) has a feature artist, the majority of ... read more

QUICKIE: I never do quickies, but I really don't want to write a formal and full-length review because I have a lot of records to listen to.

So I just have to say that this record had all the aspects to be amazing, the dark and deep atmosphere that put me in a Blade Runner/Cyberpunk Type World with the obvious soundtrack aehstetic this group has, had a great feat list, but I think this LP lacks cohesion and consistency, that consequently made this album a lot less enjoyable, but still it had a ... read more

wtf this is like noise rock without any energy. I don't understand. Some of the features were cool, but for the most part this was so boring Jesus Christ

I'm easy to convince this is good. 100 gecs convinced me this is good.

There's a lot of different sounds here, which is admirable. It has its fair share of misses, but it's not due to a lack of creativity. My favorite songs are "CYBERPUNK 2.0.2.0." and "DELICIOUS APE."
