Apostrophe (') has the narrative feel of a concept album, but aside from its willful absurdity, the concept is difficult to decipher; even so, that doesn't detract from its entertainment value.

This is some fun shit right here. Zappa is the goofiest guy in this record, and it comes off incredibly well. The silly writing and the jazzy zany instrumentals are all sorts of entertaining on this thing too.

Honestly, Apostrophe has always been the one Zappa album that just doesn't scratch the itch for me. Sure, it has some great moments, but a lot of this album is still weak compared to most of his output up to this point. Apostrophe (') is absolutely hilarious and mesmerising in so many ways! Frank Zappa is a one-of-a-kind mad genius, and an incredible musician and narrator, without ever coming across as pretentious or cringe.
