Obviously a spoken word metal album was doomed from the start... but it really isn't as bad as people said it was. The mix of poetry and rough instrumentals is a risky decision that sounded awkward and completely... unique.
However, I have a feeling that this is EXACTLY what Lou Reed and Metallica wanted. It combines the styles that they had perfected from the previous 30+ years of their careers. An album like Lulu was bound to have been created, so leave it to two legendary artists to be ... read more

The ingredients that are put into this album come off as one of the smuggest albums of recent memory. Taking two niches of varying degrees together to make a spoken word album that is bound to anger and disguise the rocksphere. It does a solid job at that, creating a humorous wave that will leave neutrals in awe. However, musically speaking, it's a tauntingly long, and dry album. There is too much awkward space to be filled by sneers.
