The latest release of the Canadian band in Ep format is brief, where the four protagonists, plus some old collaborations, continue to play in their distorted and terrifying comfort zone. Even so, these 20 minutes divided into 6 songs or sketches, are never pointless. If you want to delve into the world of noise rock and experimental electronics from the 2010s and early 2020s, FICTION is a good place to start.
Oh how I wish this had been a three song EP.
Love the first three tracks, all of which excel at delivering a different atmosphere, tied together by how captivating and haunting they are. Unfortunately, the next three tracks are a nosedive into mediocrity, failing to stick the landing or provide anything interesting to latch onto within the art rock and noise rock genre, something especially true of the closing track "TROUBLE EVERY DAY" which has frustrating guitar work seemingly ... read more
