NME
It’s rare for a rock record to feel this exciting, especially coming from a band seven albums deep and, y’know, from Surrey, but every track ‘SUCKAPUNCH’ feels inspired in some way. Making this album made You Me At Six believe in their band again, and you’d be hard-pressed not to keep the faith too.

Gigwise

You Me At Six appear to be relishing in a brave but thoroughly engaging new persona miles away from the pop-punk sound of the noughties. An astute move all things considered.

Kerrang!

SUCKAPUNCH is a win for You Me At Six. It jabs with style, and demonstrates that, far from running out of ideas, this band remain intent on staying at the cutting edge of modern British rock.

Upset
Times may be hard, but with enough pressure, the odd diamond might be formed. This time around, You Me At Six shine bright.

Dork
2021 doesn’t feel like a year to stay quiet. With ‘SUCKAPUNCH’, You Me At Six are back at full volume.

Clash
The experimentation that can be heard across ‘SUCKAPUNCH’ is what rekindled the band’s collective passion for music and their desire to push boundaries could be what allows them to continue to brave the storm of the music industry for another fifteen years, should they still want to.

DIY
A melting pot of the band’s real-life influences - with more elements of dance and hip hop thrown into their rock hybrid than ever before - this is a version of You Me At Six we’ve never seen before, and it’s certainly bold.

i used to love these guys when i was like 10. but even 10 year old me would hate this album. it’s just basic pop rock with horrible electronic elements and shitty lyrics.
fave: nice to me
least fave: kill the mood

Opening two tracks are fantastic and destroy any other dance-punk album from #2021 except Citizen - that Citizen album deserves a lot more love if you want to count that but anyway these first two tracks easily exceed the most obvious counterparts in Royal Blood and DFA1979. We are at a 9/10 thus far.

Damn that was an exhilarating start but fucking hell was that a steep drop off point, what a devastating comedown and not in an artistic way, by track 4 I even double checked, no check that, ... read more

edit 2: originally a 75. Called it, I like every track but Finish What I Started now.

edit: originally a 68. This album is probably gonna grow on me in the next few days, it's starting to infect me 😳😳

First actual album review of 2021, esketit.
Bonus points for the cover art, it's so good.

I've seen this name everytime I go to the album aisle in JB Hi-Fi (Australian electronic retail store) in the punk section and I've never bothered to look into the albums or the name. Then Spotify ... read more

NOT INTERESTING

Uninspired and lifeless rock that could've been released in 2006 and nobody would've noticed.
