This latest effort does nothing to upset that impressive trend, comprising their most sophisticated sound and presentation yet, seeing them grow beyond youthful exuberance to deliver pop with a bit more of a weathered, knowing edge.

AllMusic
The girls' sophomore effort contained more of their sleek, R&B-influenced dance pop, complete with harmonized vocals, effortless cool, and plenty of beats to keep the body moving.

What do Twice and Nazi Germany have in common? A failed global expansion.

This is a bit of a long review, so strap your seatbelts, we in for a fancy rollercoaster ride.

So, before I talk about the album, please allow me to give a little bit of a background. Twice's musical evolution throughout the past 5 years has been fascinating to say the least. From the start, catapulting into the top of the Korean music scene with over-the-top fluffy concepts that include Likey, TT, Knock Knock through ... read more

Weasel's K-Pop Adventures, Episode 5: Eyes Wide Open.

Eyes Wide Open is the second ALBUM (emphasis on ALBUM, very emphasis) by JYP Entertainment's trademark K-Pop group, Twice. TWICE has range, not only musically but audience-wise. Most of the time I used to not care about them at all, but I was always hearing what was released, recently (earlier this year), I decided to give TWICE another shot, and boy!! thank whatever god I did it. So you can classify me as a once now, I dig their evolution, it's quite clear the mature direction they took since 2017, and I can see how incredible they are as group. I dare to say they mastered the k-pop scenery quite well, because ... read more

I remember being very satisfied with this album when it came out, and personally, this is still up there amongst their "mature" efforts to this day. The songs don't sound like they stuck them in the booth with pre-written lyrics since each song sounds passionate and consistent with its themes.

Favorites: I CAN'T STOP ME, HELL IN HEAVEN UP NO MORE, BRING IT BACK, GO HARD, HANDLE IT

Least Favorites: SHOT CLOCK
