Catchy, fresh and very relaxed but somehow shallow and lacking in depth.

Best Track: The Complete Knock
Worst Track: Are You Sure You're Really Busy?

Lead singer, Dev Hynes shows us his debut LP with crisp vocals and perspective songwriting that resembled a scene inspired by transvestite club culture from a 1990’s documentary. Hynes does a good job of setting the intended moods depending on the track. I did feel like this album was missing vocal range that I know Hynes is very capable of pulling off.

Though it can come off a little one-dimensional, with pulsating drum patterns that beat the listener into submission at times and guitar licks that are somewhat uninspired, the songs here are catchy and groovy enough to coast the listener through its run time, which fortunately does not overstay its welcome too much.

HIGHLIGHTS: FORGET IT, SUTPHIN BOULEVARD, I'M SORRY WE LIED, S'COOLED, INSTANTLY BLANK (THE GOODNESS), CHAMPAGNE COAST

Dev Hynes gets a new moniker and prepares his indie-funk, coastal grooves for a stylish walk in the wild side.

Very catchy first half with a slower and less catchy back half.
