I repeatedly saw this album by Harakiri for the Sky labelled in some form or fashion as black metal. I was actually kind of pleasantly surprised to hear what hit my ears as a more metallic version of a band like Touche Amore, with all of the energy and emotion that entails. There are definite elements of the blackgaze subgenre in here instrumentally, and they clearly are inspired by it with an appearance by none other than pioneer mastermind Neige from Alcest appearing on the second track. Well what can I say, it is good post black metal, but I do think its hampered by the track lengths. Sure it makes the songs bleed together, but the indie tones and piano give it some variety. I do think I'd appreciate more uniqueness like how Asthenia's Aisa has a freakin vocoder track, or how Malikliya's debut takes cues from J-pop (at least vocally). So it seems middle of the road for me.
