A very good symphonic metal album with a great mix of operatic clean vocals and solid growls, and (mind the pun) some pretty epic orchestral instrumentation. However it does drag on a bit too long and starts to sound samey after a while which is a common problem with this type of music. But as a whole a nice listen.

It's been about a half-decade since I've last listened to these guys. I'm glad I've come back to this area of power metal, though, because this had plenty of solid and even fantastic material. It is a little too long for what it ultimately offers and the production can whiff at times, but Epica confidently continues their stride as one of the best power metal bands around.
